Winning the Hover Board from Nivea Men’s Contest

Some of you might have noticed I’ve posted up Nivea Men’s Don’t Stain Your Favourite Outfit Contest in the month of September 2016 (in the old blog). I was having a hard time deciding whether I should participate in this contest or not at first, but in the end I chose to participate.d04ba9_f3a1b2d4782d4617ba7e0af2d8de369emv2

I was quite surprised when my name was announced in Nivea Men’s Facebook page as one of the four Grand Prize winners. After all, I only spent around RM15.

Let me share with you my winning secrets:

Focus on writing a slogan that stands out from the rest. For the 20 word slogan, I used a quatrain. Same rhyme-scheme was used for each stanza. I also made sure each stanza has a similar length. The content of the quatrain was down to earth and have comedic elements while emphasize on the benefits of the Nivea Men product that was promoted.

Sending the entry during the last week of the contest. Knowing that every participant can only win once in this contest as stated in the terms. I avoided sending in my entry early because if I were to be shortlisted as the weekly winner, I will never be able to win the Grand Prize. It’s a risky move though because you tend to get more competition during the last week of the contest.

Anyway, due to the fact that the hover board is not something I could sell easily (plus its super heavy), I’ve decided to keep it at my office for public use. My lack of originality makes me want to say “Now everyone (at my office) can hover!”
